ENERGY OPTIMISATION FOR SCHOOLS

Smarter energy use for schools

Voroven is developing software to help schools reduce electricity costs by coordinating existing equipment around timetables, room use and everyday requests, while respecting comfort and operating limits.

Where could your school save?

Opportunities would depend on your school's equipment and electricity use.

Heating and cooling

Adjust heating and cooling around school hours, room use and forecast weather, while maintaining comfortable temperatures.

Rooftop solar

Make better use of electricity generated on site by coordinating suitable equipment around solar availability.

Out-of-hours energy use

Identify equipment running unnecessarily outside school hours and reduce avoidable consumption.

Peak electricity demand

Coordinate equipment to reduce unnecessary peaks in electricity demand, where this can lower costs.

Built around the school day—and changes to it

Timetables are only part of the picture. A room booking, an after-school event or a change in preferred temperature can alter what a building needs. Voro is being developed to translate these requirements into equipment operating plans, using forecasts and electricity prices while respecting agreed comfort limits and staff overrides.

What would the pilot include?

Touchscreen dashboard

View energy consumption, equipment status and opportunities to improve efficiency, with controls tailored to the school.

Automation hardware

Where needed, connect suitable existing equipment and sensors for monitoring and control.

Intelligent software

Analyse energy use, identify opportunities and coordinate equipment around the school's operating requirements.

The system would be configured around existing school operations, with agreed limits to protect comfort and equipment requirements. Staff would retain control over automated settings.

Getting started

How would it work?

  1. Understand school needs

Identify the school's operating requirements and energy challenges.

  2. Assess compatibility and agree scope

We'll review your equipment and electricity use, then discuss pilot scope, timing and participation arrangements.

  3. Trial and evaluate

Subject to equipment compatibility and an agreed scope, we'll install any necessary equipment and evaluate energy use, costs and comfort alongside normal school operations.

Any pilot arrangements would be agreed with the school before proceeding.

SECTOR RESEARCH

Research informing our approach

Australian school-energy research highlights opportunities to coordinate HVAC, solar generation and building operations. Previous projects also show that equipment integration, commissioning and access to reliable data are central to evaluating those opportunities. Voroven’s planned pilots will assess these practical requirements alongside energy costs, comfort and normal school operations.

These independent studies provide sector context; their results are not Voroven performance results.
